President's Message
 A message on behalf of
Interim President John Peck

Thank you to all of you who attended last week's meeting. Our wonderful Rotarians took park in activities throughout the past week as listed below:
ROTARIANS at WORK making a DIFFERENCE!

1. John Ternel responded to a request by Penrite Oil for volunteers at their Mustang car show on Saturday Feb 3rd; he was able to enlist Brian Ashworth, Peter Faulkner and Hans Van Dyk to work alongside him with help from Bruce, a car enthusiast from another club, all assisted with parking at the show. Penrite will be making a donation to our club in appreciation of the support.
2. Thank you to Kam Pow, Peter Faulkner and Brian Ashworth who attended Chisholm Dandenong on Tuesday to cook at the BBQ. It's great to be able to stay connected with Chisholm by volunteering at their events.
3. Brian Ashworth presented an update on Disaster Aid's response to the South Thailand floods, by visiting and providing safe drinking water from FOUR SkyHydrant installations.
Great work DAA!
4. John Ternel gave an overview of positions required for the Car Show on March 10th, 2024 (many of which we were able to fill on the night).  Thank you to all who are willing to go along and assist with this major club fundraising event.
If you don't have a duty assigned and are available for the car show, please contact John Ternel or register an RSVP on the Gateway event.

On Tuesday 13th February, we will have a planning night at which all members are asked to participate by offering ideas or volunteering for positions/committees to help our club move forward in a productive and positive way.

  Cheers,

  John Peck.

Our very own Brian Ashworth of Disaster Aid Australia answered the call from Disaster Aid Thailand and Disaster Aid Malaysia to visit Thailand for the installation of 4 Skyhydrant Rapid response units.

The positive outcomes of the trip:
1. Four communities now having safe drinking water.
2. Stronger relationship with Disaster Aid Thailand
3. Disaster Aid Thailand now highly engaged in Skyhydrants
4. Potential Safe Water for Every Child program in Thailand.

While there were huge benefits in hearing of the event directly from Brian and having the opportunity to ask questions, you can read more by visiting the

John Ternel provided an update on:

1. The attendance of Rotarians on Sat 3 Feb 2024 at the Pentrite car show to assist with parking which provided a great dry run for ours!
The attendance consolidated relationships and benefits to be realised by both organisations.
2. Our car show (10 March) planning took place at Tuesdays meeting with many members volunteering to work at the gates, marshalling cars and other positions.
For all club members and friends of Rotary, if you do not have a position allocated for Sunday 10th March then contact John Ternel (or reply to the Gateway) advising that you can help out as we need all hands on deck for our major fundraiser.

Some of the logistical issues and dealing with City of Greater Dandenong were also outlined along with sponsor VIP tickets etc.

DGE Colin Byron & Leanne had the opportunity to attend the International Assembly in
Orlando, Florida early in January this year.
They had the experience of a lifetime (i.e. Rotary lifetime) and attended extensive and informative training sessions and events over 5 days.
Hopefully we'll hear an update at one of our upcoming meetings.
