A message on behalf of
Interim President John Peck

Dear Rotarians,

Tuesday 7th November was Melbourne Cup Day; therefore, our regular Rotary meeting was cancelled.
Hopefully some of you had a good win on the Cup 'Without a Fight'!
John Peck celebrated his very special 70th Birthday on Cup Day, enjoying a few drinks and good food along with his family and friends.

In spite of not having our Tuesday meeting, there has still been a significant number of activities keeping our members very busy.

The St. James Monday meal service was very well attended by the community and the weather was perfect for the BBQ meal which was provided.

The National Youth Science Forum cohort were treated to a special event at Government House on Thursday 9th November, DG Linda Humphries, PDG Mark Humphries, DGE Colin Byron and AG Leanne Byron all had the privilege of being a part of this wonderful event.
The two Dandenong High School students who were selected to take part in the NYSF are very impressive young people and are looking forward to speaking to us in the New Year about their experiences.

Our Bunnings BBQ always brings together a great team of volunteers who enjoy great fellowship whilst serving sausages to the hundreds of customers which enables us to raise vital funds for our projects.
Thanks to all the volunteers for all your hard work on Sunday 12th November.
Approx $1400 was raised at the event, this will be confirmed on Tuesday at our meeting.

Colin & Leanne attended the Polio Plus Society Launch Luncheon on Sunday at the Grand Ridge Brewery in Mirboo North, it was a great success with many Rotarians signing up to financially support this cause.
We are so close to eradicating Polio, the more support we get, the closer we get towards achieving the Rotary goal.

The tour of the Brewery, the lunch and the company were fantastic.  A great day was had by all in attendance.

Disaster Aid continues their amazing work and have been busy preparing for their Annual Conference which will be held on Sunday 19 November from 9.30am until 5.30pm at The Dandenong Club.
If you'd like to register for the Conference, click on the link below.

We look forward to seeing on Tuesday night for our 'Night of Exploration, fellowship and fun.

Don't forget to RSVP on Club Runner or email Leanne and please bring along your $5 which will be collected upon arrival.

Kind regards,

John's special helpers.

Disaster Aid Australia (to which Rotary Endeavour Hills established and we are heavily invested, have just launched a specific appeal for the earthquake in Nepal. You can read more about it and donate here.

Annual Conference is Sunday November 19th at the Dandenong Club.  It starts at 9.30 and will finish at 4.30pm the cost is $50 which includes lunch and morning and afternoon tea).

This year as well as updates on the achievements for last year and plans for the future, Max Bird will be talking about his work in Timor-Leste.  Max is a Rotarian from WA who has been working in Timor-Leste for years and we are partnering with him for our Safe Water Timor-Leste project.

One of our volunteers will talk about a recent deployment to Nepal where they repaired existing SkyHydrants and installed another 2.

Una Hobday from the Food Plan Solutions Rotary Action Group will talk about the groups objective to end hunger, malnutrition and ensure food security for all by identifying highly nutritious local food plans and promoting their production using agroecological methods.

It is not too late to register for the conference here.

Don't miss out on the final District 9820 Conference in Warrnambool.
