Dear Rotarians,
Tuesdays meeting was our 'Lift the Lid on Mental Illness' hat night, which raised $55 for Australian Rotary Health; due to some technical issues we were unable to play the Australian Rotary Health video which we had hoped to show.
We had extensive discussions regarding upcoming meetings and events, as follows:
- On Sunday 12th November, we have our next Bunnings BBQ, please let Phil know if you're able to help out if you haven't already done so already.
- The Polio Plus Society Launch luncheon at the Grand Ridge Brewery is also on November 12th, please see the flyer below. It's not too late to sign up for this event.
- On Saturday 18th November we will be at Cleanaway, Perry Road, Dandenong South for a BBQ. Volunteers are required so please contact Phil if you're able to assist.
- The Disaster Aid Conference is on Sunday 19th November, for registrations, go to the link on the DAA quarterly newsletter which was emailed to all members on 23rd October, or you can go to their website to register.
- Our Annual General Meeting is on Tuesday 21st November at the Disaster Aid office in Doveton. Members will vote on the new constitution, nominations and appointments of various positions. A quorum is required therefore we need as many members as possible in attendance. If any of you would like to nominate for a role, you can either email Leanne or nominate at the AGM.
- Professor Gary Lit Ling Yoong will be speaking on Tuesday 28th November (see details below).
- SAVE the DATE: Monday 4th December for our Barefoot Bowling Social night, details will be emailed out soon.
- Our final Rotary night for the year is on Tuesday 19th December, which is our Christmas function, (that came around too quickly!). Invitations will be emailed to all members, it will be a celebration for all, so please invite your partners, family & friends.
We have some very exciting news about an Interact Club at Lyndale Secondary College. Leanne has been in discussions with the school since June, putting plans in place.
On Friday Leanne and Peter Faulkner met with the Senior School Assistant Principal, Diana Kennedy and Assistant Principal Inclusion & Wellbeing, Michelle Lewis to discuss the progress. It's pleasing to report that we are now well underway with filling out the required documentation for submission to District. We hope to Charter the Interact Club early in 2024.
They also discussed an Indigenous Garden project and the Peace Poles.
On Saturday, DGE Colin and AG Leanne along with DG Linda Humphries and PDG Mark Humphries attended the Casey-Cardinia Rotaract Changeover, their President Arshu Maskey has been in the role since July 1st, taking over from Liam Hines.
Their club is vibrant, extremely hard working and fun. They have had an extremely busy 17 months, working on a diverse range of projects and fundraising events, they 'kicked off the year' with a weekend away for team building and planning.
Enjoy Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday, let's hope some of you have on win!
Our next meeting is on Tuesday 14th November.
Kind regards,
(two little elves, who have teamed up to do this for John who is overseas on a business trip)
