A message from
Interim
President John Peck

Dear Rotarians,

Another busy week for the club.

Tuesdays meeting saw a discussion on last week’s activities (per Gateway newsletter ) including:
  1. The St James monthly meal preparation (cates for around 50-80 people per seating)
  2. Newstart Graduation Ceremony
  3. Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds
  4. Upcoming BBQ’s and the preparation (refurbished trailer and Gazebo) links to all for upcoming BBQ’s are available in the calendar so let us know if you wish to help out if not getting the requests direct from Phil.
In addition, information / discussions featured:
  1. Holden car show is being spruiked by the car enthusiasts following this year’s event and stating they are returning and encouraging their friends to attend next year. What a great endorsement and news! John T is forming a committee to organise and plan the 2024 event that will be held again on the Labour Day Weekend (in March).
  2. Disaster Aid conference will be held on 19 Nov at the Dandenong Club and those wishing to attend should register as it will be very informative.
  3. Phil read out the resumes containing some of the extensive contributions of Martin Pater and Ken McDonalds (no wonder the meeting ran so long) and were awarded their Honorary Membership after so many years of active service and their personal needs to cut back. A photos following their award and the great reasons for their awards are featured below.
  4. Colin Byron (as incoming Governor) then spoke about the Regionalisation Survey and a discussion ensued and those items not immediately agreed upon discussed. Members should see their emails and respond their opinion / input into various questions.

In addition to that we received a thank you letter for the GaGa Pit construction as featured in 17th September Gateway which has proven so popular teachers now have more work in that they have to schedule the access. Well done Howard and his team for creating more work for the teachers but as per the letter received this week, the kids and the school thoroughly appreciate it!

There will be no meeting on Tuesday 17 October and subject to sufficient people attending will be running the Calcutta on Thursday 19 Oct so please register your interest asap for this fun evening.

Cheers,

(on behalf of) John Peck

Thank you letter from Dandenong Primary school.
