🍕 Cornerstone Pizza Night
A big shout-out to Leanne, Lynn, Brian, and Howard for hosting a wonderful Thursday night Pizza Night at Cornerstone. It was heartening to see our club out in the community, supporting those doing it tough in Greater Dandenong. It’s a very sad situation, and I’m proud that we were able to help feed people facing real hardship. Thank you for your efforts — this is what Rotary is all about.
While we had committed to providing food that evening, we unfortunately fell short on volunteers to assist with cooking. To ensure we could still meet our promise to the Centre and the community, alternate arrangements were made through an urgent circular resolution to the Board.
💸 Trust Donations Approved
I’m also pleased to share that, on behalf of the three Trustees of TOBs, donations have recently been approved, with $5,000 going to the Springvale Benevolent Society and $3,000 to the Andrews Centre. These contributions reflect our club’s ongoing commitment to supporting vital local organisations making a real difference on the ground.

📚 Impact Collective Satellite Club Update
On Saturday, our Impact Collective Satellite Club enjoyed a lovely lunch, planning meeting, and site visit for their latest Street Library project. It’s fantastic to see the team continuing to grow and deliver on grassroots initiatives that bring learning and connection directly into neighbourhoods.
🚸 RYDA Road Safety – Thank You, Alan and Hans
A big thank you to Alan and Hans, who spent Tuesday supporting the RYDA Road Safety program. They helped with the morning setup, were each allocated a colour-coded student group, and spent the day guiding them through six engaging presentations — acting as timekeepers and supporting presenters as needed. It’s not a difficult job, and the warm lunch provided was a bonus! Thank you both for representing the club so well and contributing to this important youth initiative.
🌿 Urgent Garden Bed Repairs – Afri-Aus Care
While the club’s annual budgets are currently being finalised and will be presented shortly, a request requiring immediate action has been brought forward. A circular motion to the Board has been proposed regarding urgent works at Afri-Aus Care, where Terry and Howard have been asked to attend to the repair and reinforcement of the wooden raised garden beds. These garden beds are currently structurally compromised and at risk of collapsing — posing both a safety hazard and a serious risk to the ongoing food security initiatives and community garden programs our club proudly supports. To enable immediate action and prevent further deterioration, funding of $300 has been requested to cover the cost of materials and works.
🛠️ Operational Update
You might have noticed an increase in circular resolutions lately. As we finalise our budgets, we expect these to become less frequent, helping us make decisions more smoothly and transparently. Thanks so much for your understanding and continued support.
🤝 Next Week – Committee Catch-Up & Collaboration Night
Looking ahead, next Tuesday night’s meeting will be our first Committee Catch-Up & Collaboration Night for the Rotary year. Each committee will present its project plans, fundraising ideas, and proposed budgets across key focus areas, including Community, International, Foundation, and others. It’s an opportunity to hear the inspiring work that’s being planned and how we intend to fund it.
Importantly, if your committee is still in the early stages or has hit a roadblock, don’t worry — this night is also about sharing ideas and supporting each other. We have a wealth of experience in the room, and this is the perfect setting to seek guidance, test ideas, and shape your projects with input from fellow members.
🌳 Rotary Tree Planting – This Sunday
Just a friendly reminder that this Sunday, 10 August, the Rotary Club of Berwick will be hosting a Tree Planting event in Cranbourne West. We already have about 20 Rotarians from other clubs confirmed — but we need more hands on deck.
With 3,000 trees to plant, we’re aiming to have at least 70 people help us get the job done. The planting site is flat, easily accessible, and the weather is looking perfect — so please promote this to your members, family, and friends. Everyone is welcome to join in and help make a real impact.

📝 Club Survey – Have Your Say
We’re also continuing to receive responses to the Club Survey — thank you to the 10 members who’ve completed it so far! The survey is completely anonymous and will remain open for another two weeks. Once it closes, we’ll present a summary of the feedback at a meeting. If you haven’t responded yet, please take a few minutes to do so — your honest feedback is important and helps us enhance your experience at the club.

Thanks again for all your contributions to our club and community.
Warm regards,
