DAA Annual Conference 2024 Saturday, 19th October
The DAA Annual Conference 2024 promises to be an inspiring event, featuring impactful presentations and stories of humanitarian efforts.
Attendees will hear from the newest DARTs (Disaster Aid Response Team) as they share their experiences delivering Smart Aid in Thailand. Additionally, Sharing Hope will present their work along the Thai-Burma border.
Date: Saturday, 19th October
Time: Conference: 9:30am–4pm, Dinner: 7pm–10:30pm
Venue: The Dandenong Club, 1579 Heatherton Road, Dandenong North 3175
This is a valuable opportunity to learn more about DAA’s initiatives and be inspired by their ongoing efforts.
ROTARY COMMUNITY EVENTS
Invitation to District 9815-3 Rotary Club of Casey Monday, 18th November
We are very pleased to have accepted an invitation from Harpreet Kandra Singh (Cardinia Citizen of the Year in 2019) on behalf of the Gurdwara Sri Guru Nanak Darbar Officer (Sikh Temple Officer) to join them on the evening of Monday, 18th November 2024.
The meeting will commence at 6:00 pm and will be an interactive session followed by a complimentary vegetarian meal.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the sustainable projects undertaken by the Gurdwara and gain insights into the significant community work being carried out.
Harpreet has shared some background information on their community efforts, which will guide our discussions for the evening. You can explore more about their activities here.
The Gurdwara can accommodate a maximum of 50 people, so please RSVP as soon as possible.
No alcohol or tobacco is permitted on the premises.
Kindly cover your head and remove your shoes when inside the Temple.

Inaugural District 9815 Conference 8 - 30 March 2025
The Inaugural District 9815 Conference will be held in Bendigo from 28 to 30 March 2025. Partners, family, friends, potential members, supporters, and alumni are welcome.

DAA Annual Conference – Registration Update
Online registrations for the DAA Annual Conference closed on Wednesday, 16th October.

By taking part in the Rotary Says NO to Domestic and Family Violence prevention and education campaign, your club can take actionto make your community a safer place.
Your club can hold or participate in an awareness-raising event such as a community walk during the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, taking place from 25 November – 10 December 2024.
Rotary Pacific’s National Day of Action is Friday, 29 November.

It’s easy to assume polio is a thing of the past, particularly as our part of the world was declared polio-free over twenty years ago.
But two Rotary members in our region who contracted polio as children warn: the fight to eradicate the disease without a cure is far from over.
With World Polio Day fast approaching on Thursday 24 October, learn about the lifelong impact of polio on survivors, and how you can help eliminate the debilitating disease once and for all.
Personal tragedy turns polio vaccine refuser into vaccine advocate
For Lalgul, a father in Afghanistan, refusing the polio vaccine for his children resulted in his one-year-old son contracting polio. The child’s right leg became permanently paralyzed. Lalgul tells the story of his son’s challenges and how coming face-to-face with polio has made Lalgul a vaccination advocate in his village.
Team End Polio: One team. One dream. A polio-free world.
The Global Polio Eradication Initiative announced the launch of Team End Polio on 30 July. This new campaign unites sports fans everywhere around a common goal: to end polio for good. Team End Polio brings together a world-class roster of athletes, global leaders, and advocates to raise awareness about polio eradication online and on the field. We are proud that Ramesh Ferris, a Rotary member, endurance athlete, and polio survivor, is one of the official Team End Polio athletes!
Emory University is once again offering its excellent "Fundamentals of WASH in Healthcare Facilities" course. This Certificate online, self-paced course takes 5-6 hours to complete and is open to all. This comprehensive course provides an understanding of the essential principles and practices if WASH in healthcare settings.
We now have over 100 WASH Ambassadors spread across seven regions, which tailors the program to the language, culture, and geography of the area. Ongoing technical training is an essential component of the program, and a monthly webinar provides in-depth training on various topics.
Recently, there has been a focus on the Circuit Rider concept, which has become a characteristic of sustainable WASH Programs.
Attendance and Participation: Regularly attend club meetings and participate actively in club activities and projects.
Service Projects: Engage in community service projects, both locally and internationally, aimed at addressing humanitarian needs, promoting goodwill, and fostering peace.
Fundraising: Contribute to fundraising efforts that support Rotary's service projects and charitable activities.
Vocational Expertise: Share their professional skills and expertise to benefit others within the club and in service projects.
Ethical Standards: Adhere to high ethical standards in their personal and professional lives, reflecting Rotary's commitment to integrity and ethical behavior.
Networking and Fellowship: Build relationships and network with other Rotarians and community leaders, fostering goodwill and understanding.
Membership Growth: Support efforts to grow Rotary's membership and extend invitations to prospective members who embody Rotary's ideals.
Rotary Foundation: Contribute financially to the Rotary Foundation, which funds international scholarships, humanitarian projects, and other charitable efforts.
Public Image: Promote Rotary's mission and achievements within the community and advocate for Rotary's values and initiatives.
Leadership: Serve in leadership roles within the club or district, providing guidance and direction to advance Rotary's goals.
Overall, Rotarians are dedicated to making a positive impact in their communities and the world at large through service, fellowship, and ethical leadership.
