Whilst I understood the acronym and broadly what the intention of RYDA was I was surprised at the depth and integrated approach to teenage driver awareness.
There were approximately 150 year 11 students from Dandenong Secondary College. They had interactive sessions covering:
Risk awareness, speaking up & self-control
Examples of different moods and the impact of the driving attitude
Road choices and crash risks which included fatigue
Attention and special awareness
Speeding & braking (you would be surprised at the impact and braking distances when you travel at 40kmph, 50kmph & 60kmph)
Crash investigation exercise which included a true story presentation and the ramifications of a wrong
After speaking to Rotarians who have assisted with this course, it is not only potentially life changing for some of the students, it also changes your own driving awareness and bad habits.
I would recommend this course for any Rotarian to volunteer and to see first hand what a fabulous program it is.

Launch of the Rotary Impact Collective
On Thursday, 12th June, the Rotary Club of Greater Dandenong & Endeavour Hills proudly launched its exciting new satellite club, the Rotary Impact Collective. The event marked an important milestone as this fresh format club begins its journey with a focus on making meaningful, targeted community impact.
The launch evening brought together club members and guests to celebrate this new chapter. The Rotary Impact Collective aims to bring together passionate individuals who want to contribute to local and global projects in a flexible and innovative way, complementing the work of the parent club.
We look forward to seeing how this dynamic group will grow and make a difference in the months and years ahead.

Upcoming Event: Soap Aid Recycling Plant Tour
Join us for a tour of Soap Aid's recycling facility, where discarded hotel soaps are transformed into life-saving hygiene products for communities in need.
During the approximately 45-minute tour, attendees will witness the soap sorting process firsthand, gain insights into the recycling operations, and learn about the equipment involved.
This event offers a unique opportunity to understand how Soap Aid's partnership with the accommodation industry helps divert waste from landfills and supports global hygiene initiatives.

Rotary members are working together right now to solve challenges in their communities and around the world. That work is often supported by Rotary Foundation grants, which are made possible by contributions from members like you and other donors.
