On the 19 Dec we had our Christmas breakup which was well attended including visiting (prospective transfer) members and The Springvale Benevolent society amongst the many guests.
Update on the chartering of an interact club (from Leanne) led to significant excitement as to what 2024 will bring.
Please note the annual Chineses New Year event (on 24 February 2024 with more details below and event link) but bookings should be made by 10 January and payment by 15th January and if previous years are anything to go by it is an event that is not to be missed.
As we roll into the new year we wish you all the best for 2024 and optimistically looking forward to a great (Rotary) year for all.
Cheers,
John Peck & his little elves.
Christmas Dinner on Tue 19th Dec well attended
With Presents for all from Santa and some helpers
While John opened the evening by far the highlight was Leanne announcing the Chartering of an Interact club (designed for youth 12-18 that is supported by 4 enthusiastic teachers at Lyndale Secondary and will form part of their curriculum).
From this editors perspective, an element of community service has been part of programs such as the International Baccalaureate so I am sure we all look forward to further updates how it has been incorporated into the program and benefits everyone.
On 28th Dec 2023 Colin and Leanne Byron caught the flights to the USA to eventually get Orlando where Colin will take part in the District Governor training from 7-11 January 2024.
I doubt the other editorial elf may have time to add a live update but will on her arrival back "down under".
Keep Saturday 24 February 2024 free for the celebration of the Chinese New Year which has been a great fundraiser in the past for causes and this year will be for the Monash Children's Cancer Centre.
Kam (the organiser of the event) has asked that booking be made by 10th January and payments made by 15th January. Contact me if you did not receive details by Email.
It will be at the Shangri-La Inn Malaysian & ChineseRestaurant, Brentwood Square, Forrest Hill. (Same venue as last year)
