Sunday 2 June 2024:
Cape Schanck Luncheon 'Create Hope in the World' with Rotary International President Gordon McInally.
It was a privilege to attend this informative and inspirational Luncheon today,
DGE Colin Byron, Leanne & Terry were all in attendance along with many other Rotarians, their partners and Rotaractors from all over Victoria.
Professor Patrick McGorry gave a very informative talk and presentation on Mental Health statistics and the effects of society changes which have led to Youth Mental Health decline.
RI President Gordon McInally spoke with great passion about Mental Health and how we have and will continue to Create Hope in the World, continuing the journey of erasing 'stigma' relating to mental health issues and ways in which we can support and open up the conversation.
R U OK really should be 'Are you really OK'?
We really need to be aware of the feelings and thoughts of those around us.
Terry's comments:
I did ask one question (poorly) concerning the causes of Suicide per the documentation by the ABS on the psychosocial Risk Factors which showed 13 or the top 18 may be related to family breakup and the systems in place (another social factor that could be managed differently) and expressed interest to be stay behind and discuss a possible project on Parental Alienation and Family Separation.
Time will tell if I can progress anything through Rotary.
