A message from
Interim
President John Peck

Dear Rotarians,

Our regular Tuesday meeting was cancelled in lieu of the Calcutta which was held on Thursday October 19th.

The Annual Calcutta night was once again, a wonderful event run by our Honorary member Martin. He spent the night as the 'Auctioneer' getting as much as possible out the 25 members, friends and family, who keenly dipped deep into their pockets.
The winning table will most likely share 1st prize of $1200, or it could go to some lucky individual who was the sole purchaser of the winning horse.
We'll be anxiously waiting to find out the winner once the Caulfield Cup has run this coming weekend.

A donation in excess of $1300 will go to End Polio, which is the result of some generous donations, along with the money raised on the night.

It was a very successful night, filled with lots of fun and good outcomes for our Rotary Club.

Sunday saw some very active Rotarians, changeable weather and the recently refurbished BBQ trailer and new Gazebo (testing it out was featured in the Gateway 8th Oct 2023) utilised at the "Unity in Diversity Family Festival".

Rotarians volunteered their time, set up, ran the BBQ and enjoyed plenty of fellowship. There is always a great deal of preparation for these events including a test run, setting up and organising the purchase of food, cooking and serving.  It also provides the opportunity to connect with the local Community and members of other support groups.

Many thanks to all Rotarians involved in this event.

TUESDAY 24th October is WORLD POLIO DAY, please make an effort to attend our meeting at the Dandenong Club and help to further support END POLIO.

Please wear something RED and bring along some cash.  Our weekly member contribution is $5 and perhaps some extra change if you wish to donate to this worthy cause 'END POLIO'.

Cheers,

(on behalf of)

John Peck

Training the Governor
Our club member and District Governor Elect, Colin Byron, along with Leanne (our current Secretary, Assistant Governor and immediate Past President) travelled to Sydney this week to attend training.

Rotary continues to spearhead the eradication of the polio virus. More information can be found at the main Rotary web site

We hope to raise some extra funds on Tuesday night.
The Ride for Medical Research and our participant

Our very own Hans will be participating in the 2024 Ride for Medical Research. You can sponsor Hans here.

Australian Rotary Health is one of the largest independent funders of mental health research within Australia.

We also provide funding into a broad range of general health areas, provide scholarships for rural medical and nursing students, as well as Indigenous health students. Australian Rotary Health provides funding into areas of health that do not readily attract funding and promotes fundings to the community.

Australian Rotary Health is supported by a number of Rotary Clubs in Australia. They have a broad vision to improve the health and wellbeing of all Australians.
