Our regular Tuesday meeting was cancelled in lieu of the Calcutta which was held on Thursday October 19th.
The Annual Calcutta night was once again, a wonderful event run by our Honorary member Martin. He spent the night as the 'Auctioneer' getting as much as possible out the 25 members, friends and family, who keenly dipped deep into their pockets.
The winning table will most likely share 1st prize of $1200, or it could go to some lucky individual who was the sole purchaser of the winning horse.
We'll be anxiously waiting to find out the winner once the Caulfield Cup has run this coming weekend.
A donation in excess of $1300 will go to End Polio, which is the result of some generous donations, along with the money raised on the night.
It was a very successful night, filled with lots of fun and good outcomes for our Rotary Club.
Sunday saw some very active Rotarians, changeable weather and the recently refurbished BBQ trailer and new Gazebo (testing it out was featured in the
Gateway 8th Oct 2023) utilised at the "Unity in Diversity Family Festival".
Rotarians volunteered their time, set up, ran the BBQ and enjoyed plenty of fellowship. There is always a great deal of preparation for these events including a test run, setting up and organising the purchase of food, cooking and serving. It also provides the opportunity to connect with the local Community and members of other support groups.
Many thanks to all Rotarians involved in this event.
TUESDAY 24th October is WORLD POLIO DAY, please make an effort to attend our meeting at the Dandenong Club and help to further support END POLIO.
Please wear something RED and bring along some cash. Our weekly member contribution is $5 and perhaps some extra change if you wish to donate to this worthy cause 'END POLIO'.
Cheers,
