A message on behalf of
Interim President John Peck

Dear Rotarians,

Events of the past wee included the AGM held on Tuesday 21st November 2023 at the Disaster Aid offices followed by fellowship at the Positano restaurant.

We should not be complacent of the differences we make to peoples lives as shown in the thank you received from for the GaGa Pit. We are looking forward to the great and informative talk this Tuesay and the history we should all be aware of and learn from.

Cheers,

On behalf of John Peck

GaGa Pit
A morning tea was organised by The school and were presented with this thank you photo for the work by Howard and team on installing the GaGa Pit!

John P reports:

Howard, Paul Morris and myself with a couple more, men shed guys, attended a morning tea at Dandenong Primary School. This was a thank you for the GA GA pit which we all helped to build.

Daniel ( principal ) spoke of how popular the pit is and how pleased he was with the work we had done in achieving this great addition to the school oval.

About 15 students will go into the pit and play a version of dodge ball until there is one student left as the victor.

A good quick project with a great result, well done to Rotary and the Mens Shed in this cooperative project.

Australian Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians (AGFR)
14-19 April 2024 Tournament will be held in Busselton (West Australia). Peter Faulkner recalls it history relevant to our club and what to expect:

As some of our Rotarians will be aware a number of our members play in the AGFR golf tournament each year. The tournament is in a different State each year and is run by a Rotary Club in that State.

One of the original instigators of the tournament was Murray Guille a member of the Dandenong Rotary Club. Our involvement started when Murray convinced John Heathcote and me to play in the tournament in Brisbane in 2000.

Since then a number of Rotarians have joined us in addition to our partners some of whom play in the partners tournament while others enjoy the non-golfer’s programme of tours in the area.

Money raised from the tournament supports a charity selected by the host club in addition to providing money for the John Hood Memorial Scholarship to send a young golf greenkeeper to America to study at the Ohio State University in the Agricultural and Horticultural intern program. The program combines theoretical studies with nine months of paid practical work at some of America’s most prestigious golf courses.

This year the 46th. annual tournament is in Busselton WA from the 14th. to the 19th. of April and is to be hosted by the Ascot Satellite Rotary Club and the

Busselton Geographe Bay Rotary Club.

A number of our Rotarians have already registered and we all recommend the tournament as a friendly, social event. Talk to John Heathcote, John Angwin, Gus DeHoogd or me if you want to hear more about the AGFR. For further
